1st Ever Grand Master Open Tournament in Telangana-2019

The Tetrasoft Hyderabad Marriott Grandmaster Chess Tournament, held from 20th - 27th August, 2019, at the Marriott Hyderabad, was the first International Grandmaster Chess Open Tournament in Telangana. Russian Grandmaster Boris Savchenko won the tournament. Players from 11 countries participated in this Tournament. Organized by Srikanth Malladi

Significance

• Historical First: This was the very first Grand Master level open tournament in Telangana. It raised the bar for competitive chess in the state.

• Visibility & Standards: Being held in a 5 star hotel (Hyderabad Marriott) added prestige. The quality of participants, international representation, and a high prize fund gave local players exposure to top level competition.
